Dennis and I enjoyed visiting several historical sites on our vacation this year....among those being Monticello (Jefferson's home), Montpelier (James and Dolly Madison's home) and Ash-Lawn Highland (home of James Monroe). We also spent a day in Washington and toured the National Archives to view the Declaration of Independence and other documents housed there. We enjoyed watching this television broadcast of President Eisenhower in 1957 regarding the LRC crisis. I was six years old, Nancy was ten, Larry was two. In my "old" age, I am enjoying an increased hunger and appreciation for our country's history and the importance of preserving the heritage our founding fathers laid down so that our children and our grandchildren can continue to enjoy the liberty so many have given their lives for down through the ages.
